چکیده

Methods Ninety one eligible subjects undergoing cardiac structural and functional assessment with LGE-CMR and Doppler echocardiography were investigated. Left ventricular function, volumes, myocardial thickness, left atrial volume, wall motion score index (WMSI) and the extent of LGE were assessed using CMR. Mitral early diastolic peak (Ewave) and late peak (A-wave) velocities, E/A ratio, deceleration time (DT) of mitral early velocity, early diastolic mitral annulus peak velocity was measured by echocardiography, and ratio of transmitral diastolic peak velocity to the mitral annular diastolic peak velocity (E/E’) was calculated. Classification of diastolic function as normal, mild dysfunction (impaired relaxation), moderate dysfunction (pseudonormal), and severe dysfunction (restrictive filling pattern) was performed according to standard criteria. The E/E ratio was used to estimate LV filling pressures.

Evaluation of myocardial fibrosis with cardiac magnetic resonance contrast-enhanced t1 mapping in adults patients with aortic stenosis

Background Development of diffuse myocardial fibrosis in aortic stenosis (AS) has been associated with an adverse prognosis. Measurement of extracellular volume (ECV) from T1 mapping contrast magnetic resonance (CMR), has been recently validated as a non-invasive method for assessment of such diffuse myocardial fibrosis. Our objective was to evaluate the functional consequences of diffuse myocar...

Non-invasive estimation of cardiac wall stress by using tissue doppler-echocardiography ultrasound images: People with coronary artery stenosis

In this study, a method for non-invasive estimation of stress on the heart wall in  the diastole phase is presented using ultrasound echocardiography and tissue Doppler  imaging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress on the heart wall as a  pre-diagnosis  to identify people with coronary artery stenosis. 29 patients with stenosis of more than 70%, 30 patients with stenosis of 50 to 7...

Diastolic left ventricular functional indices: Comparison between gated myocardial perfusion SPECT and echocardiography

Introduction: Many patients have only diastolic dysfunction without any abnormality in systolic function. We compared cardiac diastolic parameters obtained by gated myocardial perfusion SPECT (Gated SPECT) with those evaluated by echocardiography. Methods: Forty-nine patients (aged 37-85 years, 19 males and 30 women) underwent Gated SPECT and echocardiogr...

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

Influence of myocardial fibrosis on left ventricular diastolic function: noninvasive assessment by cardiac magnetic resonance and echo.

BACKGROUND Fibrosis is a common end point of many pathological processes affecting the myocardium and may alter myocardial relaxation properties. By measuring myocardial fibrosis with cardiac magnetic resonance and diastolic function with Doppler echocardiography, we sought to define the influence of fibrosis on left ventricular diastolic function. METHODS AND RESULTS Two hundred four eligibl...
